Savannah information
Savannah is known for its rich, well-preserved history and congenial Southern hospitality. Many sites and museums chronicle the city's role in the cotton trade, Civil War, War of 1812, and Civil Rights movement. The historic district, which is the city's largest urban landmark, is known for its old Victorian homes, including some federal buildings, many of which have been converted to bed-and-breakfast inns. In the 50s the entire district was added to the National Historic Landmark Register. Savannah also offers a mix of cultures, including very active Irish and African-American groups that sponsor several festivals throughout the year.
